Quick Take
My good and long-time friend, Bryan Vaughn, indirectly reminded about something I've neglected: this blog! If anyone's wondered why I haven't written lately, please forgive me. These last two weeks have brought many changes in our lives. For now, there has come a pause in the frenzy, and I'll attempt to shortly relate where we've been.
Two New Jobs
Rachael, the full-time nanny, has begun her job with Sydney, whom we have jokingly called our "newest two-year-old." This week has been unusual because Sydney's grandparents and cousin, Peyton (4), have been with her. Rachael has found it hard to train or discipline Sydney when sweet grandma is offering candy and sugar against Rachael's urging towards carrots and brocolli.
Still, Rachael has made it clear to the little one that the sweets and misbehaving won't last long. Rachael will be all means love Sydney to death, and I'm sure they will form a close bond quickly. Nevertheless, I'm proud of Rachael's determination to train this girl up right, while she has the opportunity and responsibility to do so.
Me, I'm playing with the kids, too. I started work at the health and recreation center this Tuesday. It's tough, but somebody's got to be paid to have fun. I'm helping the Kids Club with my boss, Jan, and our swim instructor, Sarah. We'll be teaching sports like soccer, handball, and volleyball. We'll also do water sports every so often. Speaking of water, my certification for lifeguarding is all but within my grasp. Though I pass the Red Cross Training Course, I still have to be certified by the county (one of two counties in the country that hold this extra requirement!). Lord willing, I'll be wearing the red shorts and toting my whistle by mid-September.
Two Renewed People
Each day is giving us new lessons. Being Rachael's husband is priceless, but we both have our weakness and sins to overcome. We're loving the journey of life, but only because we're able to count every trial a joy (James 1:2). Hopefully, with the aid of your prayers, we will continue to be renewed daily after the image of Christ the Son. The Lord be with all you who hope in Him!
How long have you been Rachel's wife? I'm sure that is priceless...ha..i love you brother. Happy Birthday!!!

Hey, you have a great blog here! I'm definitely going to bookmark you!
I have a mesothelioma site. It pretty much covers mesothelioma related stuff.
Come and check it out if you get time :-)
As I am recovering from my unfortunate gunshot wound, I am spending more time reading your blog. If you ever want to release a rap album let me know.
ReplyDeleteBrett, I hope that you have earned your red shorts and whistle by now. If you ever need some extra shorts, let me know. I have a bunch left over from the late 90s. They all have a 36" waist. What size are you? Let me know if they will work for you.
